Black Girls Do Bike! Essential Bike Skills

Do you ride less than you want to? Do you skip rides sometimes because you're worried about running into bike trouble?
Do you wish you knew more about bike repair, lingo and road rules?


Join this 3 hour long BIKE MAINTENANCE workshop!

-Group learning activities
-Maintenance lessons
-Hands-on bike repair time

You'll work in groups in order to practice skills on a variety of different bicycles. By working together you'll have an opportunity to teach your peers and learn from them as well.

You will learn:
-Bike lingo and anatomy so that you can communicate effectively in bike shops
-How to do a safety check before you go on a ride
-How to remove wheels and change a flat tire
-Chain maintenance, including how to lubricate your chain and check it for wear
-How to lock your bike on campus
-Bike fitting for your unique body (everything from choosing a comfortable saddle to how to choose a bike that fits you perfectly)

Tools, some parts and snacks provided.

Bring your own bike, or work on a bike with a friend.


$30 tuition
