Gender affirming mindfulness and yoga

This is a FREE class designed to help friends in the trans community manage dysphoria through the use of mindfulness and yoga. External affirmation can be expensive and hard to come by in the isolating society we live in, so we’re really excited to have the opportunity to give trans folx some tools to find affirmation from within.

About half of the class will be guided, experiential meditation, and the other half will be light, adaptable yoga that is accessible for people of all mobility levels, including folx who use mobility devices. Wear comfortable, yet affirming clothes and bring something comfy to sit and do yoga on. If you don’t have a mat, then a towel, blanket, and/or pillow will work fine. If you have extra, bring one to share. 

During the meditation portion, we’ll be taking our awareness into our dysphoria and passively observing it as a means of giving it shape and form so that we can better understand how we experience it. This can be intense and unpleasant if you’re unprepared for such an exercise. It’s recommended that everyone have an affirming memory or thought in mind to anchor their awareness to if their experience becomes unpleasant.
